• Falls under the Edible Oil category, PPO is derived from CPO, whereas PPKO is derived from CPKO through the process of purification in order to remove non-glyceride components such as trace metals, shell pieces and products of oxidation. Most vegetable oils go through such a phase to remove the unwanted components and to smooth out the oil. The first step of purification is removing the easily culled components, such as fruit pieces and fiber, shells and excess moisture. No chemical processes are needed to remove these components.
• Through the purification process, PPO & PPKO is produced, making it edible and affordable due to low cost in manufacturing. PPO & PPKO has been approved worldwide to be the most affordable and highest demand among edible vegetable oils.
• In general, PPO has a special characteristic of remaining stable at high cooking temperatures and can be stored longer than other vegetable oils. However, PPKO exceeds the special characteristic of PPO and researches have shown that PPKO does not contain cholesterol or trans fatty acids, which makes them one of the preferred vegetable oils globally.

• Crude Palm Kernel Oil CPKO (the palm seed in the center) is the pre-purified oil that is extracted from the palm fruits. When palm fruits are harvested, smashed and heated, it is not a clear oil that is first produced. What comes out of this initial process is CPO/CPKO, which is much thicker, lumpier and full of many inedible components.
• These products are widely being used for industry purposes, or through certain processes can be turned into edible oil. They are suitable for the manufacture of soaps, washing powders and personal care products.
• In comparison, the CPKO is higher quality than CPO due to special characteristics found, especially after being processed as mentioned under the category below. Also, they can be used either as high-protein feed for dairy cattle or for energy replacement alternative – being burned in boilers to generate electricity for Palm Oil Mills and surrounding areas.
• It remains stable at high cooking temperatures and can be stored longer than other vegetable oils. The oil can also be stored longer than other vegetable oils
