The objective of sme packaging centre sdn. Bhd. Is to assist small & medium enterprises (smes) in the food processing industry to upgrade their products to enable them to compete, both locally and the global market.

Smep aspires to be a ‘centre for packaging technology’ and a one stop solution provider pertaining to food packaging, i.e., packaging material, graphic design, selection of packaging and processing machineries and packaging technology.

Most food products produce by smes in malaysia could not penetrate the premium markets (hypermarkets, export, etc) due to various reasons. One of the main reasons is said to be the packaging quality. However packaging is not just about design and packaging material. Packaging is the final process of food production, which includes production process, quality of raw material, packaging technology and material and efficiency of equipment.

One of the main problem faced by smes are product shelf life. Their product cannot last long, as a result their market is limited and their business cannot grow.
