Refined canola oil is a perfect choice for sauting at medium-high heat; its neutral flavor makes it ideal for baking cakes, cookies and pies, and for smooth, delicious salad dressings, sauces and marinades.

The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated. Soybean oils, both liquid and partially hydrogenated are sold as "vegetable oil, " or are ingredients in a wide variety of processed foods. Most of the remaining residue (soybean meal) is used as animal feed.

After milling, various palm oil products are made using refining processes. First is fractionation, with crystallization and separation processes to obtain solid (stearin), and liquid (olein) fractions. Then melting and degumming removes impurities. Then the oil is filtered and bleached.
