Corn Oil has more cholesterol-blocking plant sterols than other cooking oils and 4x more than olive oil. Plant sterols are naturally occurring nutrients found in plants that can help block the bodys absorption of LDL (bad) cholesterol. You can find them in fruits, vegetables, nuts and corn oil.

Castor oil is a vegetable oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the castor oil plant. The common name "castor oil", from which the plant gets its name, probably comes from its use as a replacement for castoreum, a perfume base made from the dried perineal glands of the beaver.

The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated. Soybean oils, both liquid and partially hydrogenated are sold as "vegetable oil, " or are ingredients in a wide variety of processed foods. Most of the remaining residue (soybean meal) is used as animal feed.

Vegetable oil can be used as an alternative fuel in diesel engines and in heating oil burners. When vegetable oil is used directly as a fuel, in either modified or unmodified equipment, it is referred to as straight vegetable oil (SVO) or pure plant oil (PPO). Conventional diesel engines can be modified to help ensure that the viscosity of the vegetable oil is low enough to allow proper atomization of the fuel. This prevents incomplete combustion, which would damage the engine by causing a build-up of carbon. Straight vegetable oil can also be blended with conventional diesel or processed into biodiesel or bioliquids for use under a wider range of conditions.

Oil that is produced from the seeds of jatropha plant that grows in all the common and marginal lands is called as Jatropha oil. The species of plant that is used for oil extraction is known as Jatropha Curcas. Since jatropha crucas is very toxic they are not consumed by humans and other living things. The main goal of cultivating jatropha all over the world is to extract oil from the seeds which is used as an alternative energy source. Jatropha oil extraction methods have also gained the same importance like jatropha cultivation. Since the oil extracted from jatropha seeds is the primary source for bio-fuel, the process of extraction methods have also become significant. The oil extracted from the seeds is processed to prepare high quality bio-fuel an alternative source that can be used in diesel car. While the residue that remains after extracting oil is also processed and used a biomass feedstock to produce electricity and is also used as a fertilizer. Jatropha oil is non edible and is also poisonous. Jatropha has to be made with two process to get a better yield of 92% otherwise a yield of less the 85% only will be got.

After milling, various palm oil products are made using refining processes. First is fractionation, with crystallization and separation processes to obtain solid (stearin), and liquid (olein) fractions. Then melting and degumming removes impurities. Then the oil is filtered and bleached.

Canola oil, or canola for short, is a vegetable oil derived from rapeseed that is low in erucic acid, as opposed to colza oil.Canola oil is made at a processing facility by slightly heating and then crushing the seed. Almost all commercial canola oil is then extracted using hexane solvent[21] which is recovered at the end of processing. Finally, the canola oil is refined using water precipitation and organic acid to remove gums and free fatty acids, filtering to remove color, and deodorizing using steam distillation. The average density of canola oil is 0.92 gml.

Refined sunflower oil is used for low-to-extremely-high-temperature cooking. As a frying oil, it behaves as a typical vegetable triglyceride. Unrefined sunflower oil is a traditional salad dressing in Eastern European cuisines. Sunflower oil is also an ingredient in sunflower butter.
