The chestnuts are a group of eight or nine species of deciduous trees and shrubs in the genus Castanea, in the beech family Fagaceae. They are native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The name also refers to the edible nuts they produce.
Chestnuts remain a good source of antioxidants, even after cooking. They're rich in gallic acid and ellagic acidtwo antioxidants that increase in concentration when cooked. A prune is a dried plum of any cultivar, mostly the European plum (Prunus domestica). Use of the term "prune" for fresh plums is obsolete except when applied to varieties (of plum) grown for drying.[1]
Most prunes are freestone cultivars (the pit is easy to remove), whereas most plums grown for fresh consumption are clingstone (the pit is more difficult to remove).
Prunes are 64% carbohydrates including dietary fiber, 2% protein, a rich source of vitamin K, and a moderate source of B vitamins and dietary minerals. The sorbitol content of dietary fiber likely provides the laxative effect associated with consuming prunes. Contrary to the name, boiled plums or prunes are not used to make sugar plums
