In solvent extraction high solvent flammability and residual solvents content in the final products results in high explosion risk for process and adverse health effects for consumers. Because of these issues supercritical fluid extraction using carbon dioxide as a solvent, which is a nontoxic, colorless, odorless, tasteless, nonflammable, and cheap gas with a minimal environmental impact compared to others solvents, has been in past years intensively investigated as an alternative to replace those traditional separation process.
